A chance to compose a documentary soundtrack catapulted Calvin from the comfort of his piano to Ukraine, where he discovered a symphonic haven. The Philharmonics and orchestras became his playground, performing and recording, shaping Calvin’s ability to weave symphonic masterpieces.
A Symphony of Unity in the Face of Adversity
In the wake of turmoil, Calvin found himself in the midst of history. As Putin’s invasion unfolded, Calvin and his wife embarked on a perilous journey from Ukraine to Romania. Amidst this chaotic flight, the irony of the situation crystallized. Calvin’s arrangement of “Carol of the Bells”, the national song of Ukraine, had earlier been recorded for Calvin’s release, Paramount: The Symphony Sessions, by a Russian orchestra! This epiphany sparked a mission: to distribute the music that serves as proof of unity in the midst of a senseless invasion.
Calvin’s realization prompted the release of two singles supporting Ukrainian families in need.
